In 1989 my spiritual journey began, and it took me to many places and people who would change my life forever. I also read countless books on various topics related to metaphysics, sometimes emptying out entire libraries. One day I was approached by a Jewish lady during a Spiritual Workshop weekend who felt I could benefit from a retreat she had attended in the beautiful Blue Mountains of NSW. I kept the leaflet she gave me for quite some time, until the day when I wanted to attend the retreat presented itself. The retreat was run by a global Spiritual Awareness and Study group based in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India, named Brahma Kumaris. This was the first of what would become many visits in which I took many people with me, including my eldest child. Here I meditated for the first time. Among the many gifts that this place offers, are beautiful purchases which include music and guided meditation CD’s. One of these CD’s is titled GOD, and Track 5 “Be With Me” states “I am the Comforter of Hearts”.
What an absolutely beautiful statement this is. So touching, so soothing. So GOD-like. Naturally I had to adopt it as my brand name, because despite my harsh and difficult past, despite the petty horrors depicted in my debut book and memoir, my life moving forward is all about Divine Service to myself and others.
